Her "Nickled and Dimed" is a real-life situation
faced by millions of Americans. The daily routines of working two jobs, no health insurance, even living out of a car as a last resort happens more often than most of us realize.

Here in Fresno, a year or so ago, the mayor got fed up with the homeless camping under freeway overpasses and had all their property, even medications, bulldozed and removed. Last month, the ACLU won a large lawsuit against the city for illegally destroying their property. The poor and mentally handicapped are the lowest run on the economic ladder have few resources and are routinely taken advantage of. (Posted by a proud member of the ACLU.
