GENEREAL COMMENTS
This is an issue that Adventists of all persuasions can enjoy. There were two articles that deserve BOUQUETS along with special mention, and they are. . .
STRAIGHT FROM THE MULE’S MOUTH by Gerald A. Klingbeil in which stories about mules in the ancient Mid East confirm the Bible’s accuracy. It is a brilliant piece of historical reporting and a MUST READ.
July 2009 - Vol. 5, No. 7
Angel Manuel Rodriguez, Director of the Biblical Research Institute of the General Conference, evidently believes that HONORING THE CREATOR GOD includes the invitation to join in a witch-hunt! His editorial purports to be written in response to the following question: “Is it true that some Adventist scientists and theologians no longer believe that God created everything in six literal days?” The answer to that question is “yes”.

GENERAL COMMENTS
This review is a “feel good” edition. Kids are really WHY WE CARE. Wilona Karimabadi and the KIDS VIEW gang along with Ellen White’s piece, JESUS, GENTLE SHEPHERD remind us that children are the future, and they need and expect us to help them prepare for it, in this world and the next. I asked my 8-year-old grandson about Kids View the magazine, and my report and comments will conclude this review.
Stephen Chavez’ editorial comment, DON’T PANIC, was refreshing in that it was wise rather than religious.

GENERAL COMMENT
Pastor Erick Cerritos, 33, was murdered in Guatemala, a place where 12 church members have been murdered, 100 extortions and 10 kidnappings have taken place since 2008. All of us should daily and prayerfully remember Adventist pastors and believers whose dangerous, unflagging and confident faith inspires the world.
BOUQUETS
Even in this excellent issue, the following six pieces deserve special mention. Ray Adams’ editorial, FOUR ELEGANT WORDS, elucidates the subatomic world of the Higgs boson.
Adventist jargon alienating, church executives say
On the Tavis Smiley Show, chef, historian, and activist Bryant Terry mentions Seventh-day Adventists as an influence for his new book, Vegan Soul Kitchen: Fresh, Healthy, and Creative African-American Cuisine.
March 2009 - Vol. 5, No. 3

Reviewing the Adventist Review
February 19, 2009 - Vol. 186, No. 5
EDITORIAL COMMENT
The cover story in this issue, "Like Water Between Our Fingers," by Jimmy Phillips should be required reading for all North American Adventists. We are the financial engine that makes possible our worldwide effort to feed the hungry, provide clean water to the thirsty, shelter the stranger, cloth the poverty stricken, heal the sick, and visit the prisoners.

Vol. 186, No. 4
GENERAL COMMENTS
This issue is generally readable and informative. My comments include one Bouquet.
Mark A. Kellner earned the Bouquet for his editorial, We’re All Lubavitchers Now, and his beautifully written article, Going the Distance: Oakwood’s Delvert Baker Hits Antarctica’s Ice for Fund-Raising Marathon.
A deadly tornado ripped through communities in Southern Oklahoma leaving rubble in its wake. Ardmore Adventist Academy was among the numerous structures destroyed. The school served twenty-five students from grades 1-10. In addition to the loss of the school building and gymnasium, the tornado also flattened a pecan orchard leading up to the school's proprty.
Unseasonably warm weather helped to create the tornadoes, which are uncommon during the month of February in Oklahoma.
Charrie Shockey posted these photos of the Ardmore tornado's aftermath at the C. Shockey Photography blog.
